Thai visas & work permits for Swedish citizens

Swedish citizens can visit Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism from 15 September 2026. Many Swedes winter in Thailand on the retirement visa or the DTV, and families use the marriage visa. Sweden is an Apostille Convention party.

Do documents from Sweden need an apostille or legalisation?

Sweden is a party to the Apostille Convention. Thailand acceded on 30 June 2026 and the Convention enters into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027; until then documents from Sweden still need Thai embassy legalisation, and from that date an apostille is expected to suffice.
