Phuket immigration guide

Phuket immigration guidance for retirees, international families and hospitality employers: jurisdiction, address records, visa planning and local assistance.

Written by the Thai Legal & Immigration legal team · Last reviewed · Editorial policy

Phuket’s immigration planning often begins with an address question: a seasonal villa, hotel stay and long-term rental can produce different accommodation records. Resolve those records before preparing a retirement, family or business application.

Which immigration office handles this area?

Phuket Immigration — Phuket Town, Saphan Hin area

Phuket Immigration handles residents of Phuket province. A Patong service point may offer selected services; confirm the correct counter for your application through the Immigration Bureau before travelling.

Local communities and common visa routes

The island attracts European and Russian-speaking retirees, international-school families, hospitality investors and yacht-sector workers. Retirement and family routes are common considerations; hotel, restaurant and marine-sector employment may require a Non-B visa and separate work authorisation.

Practical points before you file

  • Ask your accommodation provider for the TM.30 record and check that the address matches the residence evidence in your application.
  • Allow for cross-island traffic from the west-coast beaches to Phuket Town; do not assume a nearby service point accepts a full annual-extension application.
  • Seasonal travel can overlap with reporting or extension deadlines. Check the permitted-stay stamp and any re-entry requirement before departure.

How we serve Phuket

We serve this area through field representatives coordinated from our Bangkok Head Office. We do not maintain a local office here. Document review can begin remotely; any local attendance or representation is agreed after checking the procedure. Applicants may still need to attend immigration personally.

Requirements and service locations can change. Decisions remain with the relevant authorities.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use any Phuket immigration counter?
Not necessarily. Phuket Town and local service points may offer different services. Confirm the counter handling your application through the Immigration Bureau before travelling.
Does owning a Phuket villa give me residence rights?
Property ownership does not itself grant permission to stay or work. Your immigration route must independently meet the applicable requirements.
Can you assist without a Phuket office?
Yes. Field representatives can be coordinated from our Bangkok Head Office after a case review. We do not have a Phuket branch, and immigration may require you to attend personally.
