Why the transfer matters
Your extension of stay is recorded in your passport. Leaving Thailand or presenting a new passport without the transferred stamp can lead to questions at the airport, or to the extension being treated as cancelled.
Documents commonly needed
- Old and new passports, or a police report and embassy letter if the old one was lost or stolen.
- An embassy letter confirming the new passport was issued, where the office asks for it.
- Copies of the relevant pages of both passports, signed.
- Photos and the immigration application form.
- TM.30 receipt for the current address.

After the transfer
- Work permit holders: update passport details with the Department of Employment.
- Bank accounts: update passport numbers, especially if you rely on a deposit for a retirement or marriage extension.
- 90-day reporting: the next report should show the new passport.
- Re-entry permits: confirm they were transferred before you travel.
Lost or stolen passport
Report the loss to the police first, then obtain an emergency or new passport from your embassy. Immigration will need both documents to restore your permission of stay in the new passport. Do not travel until the status is restored.
How we help
We prepare the transfer file for the office responsible for your address, accompany you on filing day, and update the work permit and other records so the new passport matches every system.
